Colorforms
Much of my painting practice focuses on making representational observational paintings of places and photographs. By contrast, these paintings are all abstractions of memories of specific places or events. My memories often take the form of color. If I close my eyes, what colors and sensations remain after I have left a place? Sometimes when I try to conjure up a memory of a place, it is not a literal representation I recall, but a jumbled collection of sounds, colors and temperatures. These paintings are my attempt to capture and communicate those sensations with paint.
